FAQs
Do I need to have taken Suturing After Birth or the Standard Suture Lab before attending this class?
Not required, but strongly recommended. This lab moves quickly into advanced repair technique and assumes comfort with basic suturing fundamentals, knot tying, tissue handling, needle control. If you're solid on the basics, you'll get the most out of this. If you're newer to suturing altogether, we'd recommend starting with Suturing After Birth or the Standard Suture Lab first.

Do I need a vaginal model to attend?
No, but it's highly recommended for the most realistic practice experience. The same model used in our Standard Suture Lab works well for this advanced anatomy too. If you don't have a model, common grocery store alternatives like chicken breast or cow tongue provide a surprisingly effective simulation of tissue texture and suturing resistance. What matters most is that you have something to practice on. And most importantly that you have needle drivers and half-moon needle
How does this class work online?
This is a live, interactive 2-hour class held via video. You'll watch Augustine demonstrate advanced repair techniques in real time, practice alongside her with your own materials, and ask questions throughout. It's not a passive webinar, it's a live lab, so come ready to participate, practice, and get your hands moving.
What's included in the Full Package kit?
The Full Package includes a vaginal model and a suture practice set (includes needle drivers, stitch scissors and mini forceps) delivered to your door — everything you need to practice alongside the class. Kits require 2 weeks for delivery, so order early to ensure yours arrives before the lab.
NOTE: You'll need suture material and a filament needle to complete your setup — these aren't included in the kit. For the best experience, I recommend practicing with what you’ll actually be using in your clinical work:
36” Vicryl 3-0 with a ½ circle 36mm CT needle.
Building muscle memory with your real-world materials matters.
That said, if you have access to expired or donated suture, you’ll still get excellent practice from any 2-0, 3-0, or 4-0 Vicryl, Vicryl Rapide, or Chromic Gut in any tip style, as long as the needle is 26mm or larger.
Please avoid silk suture or monofilament (the “fishing line” type) — the handling properties are too different and will work against the muscle memory we’re building.
When in doubt, bring what you have and we’ll work with it.
Is this a CEU course?
This lab is not a CEU course. However, we do have a Suturing After Birth (4CEU) class which you can sign up for here or buy at a discounted bundle price with this lab.
